The volume has to be turned way up to hear, but then we get a lot of back-ground noises(hissing.etc). We decided to go for an economical 4 head VCR and bought this unit. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Other than that, there haven't been any other problems, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even at such a low price. Unfortunately, it did not perform as well as we had hoped. The sound quality is the biggest drawback.
